Almost 100 people visited This house of books last Saturday to find out What makes it poetry. Some people came by chance, just to see what was happening in the bookstore, and then they stayed until the end of the event. This is understandable because Victoria Cech, Dave Caserio, Tami Haaland, Lowell Jaeger, Bill Kamowski, Bernard Quetchenbach partake in a moderated Q&A by Billings Public Library's Gavin Woltjer. It was charming, powerful, exciting, informative and frightening. Speakers talked about poetry, about what poetry is like, how to read poems correctly. And what can be called a poem. Is there a future for poetry? Does poetry have a present? A wonderful idea was voiced that despite the existence of the Internet and the Amazon, we all gathered in a real (not virtual one) book store. However, it is very difficult to describe everything that happened during the event. Definitely, this is one of those events that you need to come up with and try not to miss even one word. Many thanks to This house of books and each person who participated in the organization of the event. Oh, and for dessert a performance by Dave Caserio. Enjoy!
